Hello lovelies! Today I'm going to review and compare two Japanese drugstore eyeliners, DollyWink Deep Black and Heroine Make Kiss Me Black liquid eyeliners.
in their original packaging, both are available at Sasa.com, prices online are a bit higher than the Sasa outlets in Hong Kong, but still very reasonable as these are drugstore brands.
same tube size, obviously, I like the DollyWink packaging much better because it's cuter (hello, there's a bow!) and easier to spot in my stash than the Heroine Make's dark tube.
both have very thin tips, but the difference will be seen on the swatch, as seen on the photo below:
top left and right: Dollywink
bottom left and right: Heroine Make Kiss Me
As you can see, DollyWink gives a thinner line while the Heroine Make can give a thicker, bolder line. If its good or bad, will depend on your personal preference. They both have dark pigmentation and both liquid liners dry very fast, and when they do, they won't smudge and budge throughout the day as they're both waterproof but can be easily removed with plain soap as I did with the swatches. When it comes application, I find the DollyWink to be easier to use since the tip is a bit softer than the Heroine Make.
SUMMARY:
PACKAGING: DollyWink > Heroine Make Kiss Me
PRICE: DollyWink USD12.50 > Heroine Make Kiss Me USD11.40
PIGMENTATION: DollyWink = Heroine Make Kiss Me
EASE OF USE: DollyWink > Heroine Make Kiss Me
STAYING POWER: DollyWink = Heroine Make Kiss Me
I hope this helps those who are trying to decide which one to get! Honestly, they're almost the same, but the one I will repurchase is DollyWink even if its a couple of dollars pricier. You just can't beat ease of use especially if you're a liquid liner noob like me. :P
Thank you for reading!
♡,
G
Liquid liner noobs unite! XD I think that's why I love the DollyWink liquid eyeliner so much too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! I've been looking for a different liner other than pencil or creme liner! I'll have to def. check this out!
ReplyDeletethanks,
mary
Omg I was preparing my comparison review too between DollyWink and Stila Waterproof and I took the same kind of pictures XD
ReplyDeleteGreat review! I really like Dolly Wink! :D
Haha, it's all about the bow! I'm crazy about them, I have so many bow accessories!
ReplyDeleteI do hope to try out Dollywink one day ^^
this is a cool comparison! thanks to your review i dont feel the need to go out to purchase dollywink... since i have the heroine make one :P But i think i might try the k-palette sometime in the future :D
ReplyDeleteGreat review G!!! I love Dollywink's packaging too <3 (bowssss!)
ReplyDeletei wish they would come out with a brown liquid version :P hee hee black is too harsh for my look.
I've heard really great things about the Dollywink liner! I like your summary.. I'm sure you would have swayed some people over with this pot :P hehe glad you liked my looked with the green Etude e/s.. now I'm thinking of looks to try with the pink one! ^^
ReplyDeleteI personally loveee the Dolly Wink one a lot more! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat comparison G! I have yet to try the Dolly wink eyeliner but have read so many raves about it. :D
ReplyDeleteGreat comparison and review, G. I haven't tried both since I love gel liners and I'm now too lazy to apply liners but if I want a liquid one, I'll keep these two in mind. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the comparison!:D Thanks for the review, I'm just searching for a new eyeliner! So your post makes it much easier for me!<3
ReplyDeleteThank you^__^*
Great review! I really like my K-Palette eyeliner but the Dolly Wink one looks interesting. You pointed out that the staying power between the Dolly Wink and Heroine Make are equal and that they are waterproof. How easily is it to remove?
ReplyDelete*Kat*
I love this review! I wish I could purchase these products here in Russia..
ReplyDeleteLOL @ liquid liner noob - I don't believe that at all!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI prefer Kate's Super Sharp Liner to DW's, the tip isn't as long, which makes it easier to line (I guess haha) and more precise too.. the only thing is, it is SOOOOOOOO hard to remove =[
I was about to buy the Heroine Make Kiss Me one but didn't *sigh*
ReplyDeleteMy sister in law used the Dolly Wink one but asking her for an opinion on which one to choose would be futile as she only bought the dolly wink one because it is cute..haha..
you know what, the strange thing is, if i'm not mistaken, both of these liquid liners are the of the same price here in Sasa malaysia...0__0 no fair!
dollywink is soo cute! i wish i can get hold of any item from the brand :(
ReplyDeletearghhh i'm a noobie too but i bought the heroine first..haii hope to try out the dolly wink one soon! hehe still have to use my K palette one first!
ReplyDeleteDolly Wink is better??? But there's a nice cartoon on the Heroine package??? LOL
ReplyDeleteHello G!!! I hope all is well in your world.
It *was* loud. My poor dog ran underneath the bed. T_T I dressed like a bum in college. I think I may be making up for that. ;) Sure. In the meantime, I have a lovely photo of myself wearing jeans and t-shirt in my last post...haha!
ReplyDeleteYes, the DW package is cute!
ReplyDeleteDid you want to enter the giveaway???
great review hun! i just realized a lot of brands use this kind of pen tip applicator! i do like the ease of pen tips. haha i agree, it's all about the bows!!! :p
ReplyDeletenice, ive been eyeing for DollyWink Deep Black for a month now, how much did it cost you plus shipping fee?
ReplyDeletelovely comparative review babe! both liners seem so great. and the packagings are both cute. hard choice lol
ReplyDeleteOh, before I forget again...I know Mikey got too dark for a while there, but I did let him have another fun episode--in a weird way. If you're ever bored, that post was in November and called Alternate Universe. =)
ReplyDeleteThe dollywink liner is amazing I love it! I have the k-palette one too and it's pretty good but I love the packaging of dollywink more haha!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried K-palette liquid liner? I'm using it and loving it but I'm intrigued to try DW as well! :D
ReplyDeleteSeems like I can't escape all this talk of this Dollywink liner XD
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to try the Dolly Wink liner for a long time, but just never quite got around to it. Must pick one up next time I'm in Asia! b/c I am definitely a liquid liner noob lol
ReplyDeleteAre these available at online beauty shops here in Ph? Wanted to try them XD
